Aug 22, 2016

[Beijing, China, August 22, 2016] Huawei today held a media pre-briefing to announce details about HUAWEI CONNECT 2016, an event that will take place in Shanghai from August 31 to September 2, 2016. HUAWEI CONNECT 2016 is Huawei's first global annual flagship event that targets the entire ICT industry, and this year's event will center on the theme of "Shape the Cloud".

"HUAWEI CONNECT is similar to the Roman Square where inspirations were gained through the exchange of ideas, and will connect the most active ideas worldwide. During the event, participants will share assumptions, explore directions, and create theories to drive the development of future smart society. In addition, the event will serve as an ecosystem platform where Huawei seeks to openly collaborate with its partners to achieve shared success and build an information society and a smart society. HUAWEI CONNECT is also a big event for connectivity and cloud technologies," said William Xu, Executive Director of the Board and Chief Strategy Marketing Officer of Huawei. "Huawei will continue to focus on ICT infrastructure, build a sustainable cloud ecosystem, enable customer and partner innovation, and strive to become a preferred partner for customers during their execution of cloud strategies."

Building a Better Connected World is a vision shared by Huawei and the whole society. In a Better Connected World, information society will become a smart society, with connections and cloud as its cornerstones. Cloud is shaping everything. Industries are embracing the digital transformation, which is deepening vertically. At the same time, everything is shaping the cloud. Key business requirements and challenges from industries are driving the development of the cloud.

HUAWEI CONNECT 2016 will bring together over 20,000 industry leaders and experts from more than 120 countries and regions. More than 400 speakers from around the world, including the CEOs of Intel and Infosys, the Executive Director of The Linux Foundation, and Huawei's rotating CEOs, will share their insights into the future smart society. Topics at the event will cover business, technology, and ecosystem strategies in the cloud era. There will be three keynotes, six summits, over 800 sessions, and more than 1,000 tech sessions in hands-on labs.

HUAWEI CONNECT 2016 will mark a new milestone for Huawei. During the event, the company will elaborate on its business strategies, key initiatives, and practices, and share insights into latest industry developments.

During the event, Huawei will work with industry customers, partners, and alliances from around the world to explore the path of digital transformation in the cloud era. To address industry-specific needs, Huawei will launch nine flagship solutions (e.g., cloud storage, cloud services, SDN unified controller, and NB-IoT chip) based on four key technologies including cloud computing, SDN, Big Data, and Internet of Things. These solutions will enable faster digital transformation for customers in nine major industries, such as the government & public sector, finance, telecom, energy, and media.

HUAWEI CONNECT 2016 will boast an interactive exhibition hall covering an area of over 18,000 m2 at the World Expo Center in Shanghai, of which 9,000 m2 will be used to showcase the capabilities of Huawei's industry partners.
