—Speech by Eric Xu at the 2014 Huawei Global Quality Forum

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen:

I'm delighted to welcome you to the 2014 Huawei Global Quality Forum, and I look forward to an exciting and successful forum!

Over the past two decades, Huawei has lived and breathed quality. Our products and services have won the trust of customers, and paved the way for our success today. We'd like to say a big thank you to our customers, especially BT and Vodafone. For more than a decade, you've made demands on us, checked on us, and pushed us to do better. Because of you, we have deepened our cooperation, honed our quality management system, and improved our product and delivery quality.

We're fully aware that we cannot improve quality on our own. Our customers, suppliers, and the entire value chain must all join in the quality pursuit. As Huawei evolves, we will continue to live and breathe quality, win with quality, and promise to deliver cutting-edge products and services.

This is why we've convened this conference, and why we've brought together industry organizations, customers, and suppliers in Shenzhen. We're here to explore how we can work together and drive each other to deliver the best quality products and services for customers. To do that, Huawei will focus its efforts on several areas:

One: Working with industry organizations — to explore quality requirements and standards, so as to enhance the industry's quality management and develop a robust quality management system.

Two: Working with customers — to have customers tell us their exact quality requirements, so that we can understand and meet their needs and deliver quality products and services to them.

Three: Working with suppliers — to let suppliers know what our customers and we want for quality, so that they understand our needs. We'll be holding suppliers to higher quality standards. When suppliers meet higher quality standards, they will also gradually improve quality capabilities. BT and Vodafone have demanded the same of Huawei over the past ten years, and we want to replicate their methods with our suppliers. This way, we have the entire value chain cooperate to create quality products and services.

We strive to deliver quality products and services and our customer promise. To do that, we need the industry organizations, our customers, and our suppliers with us. This must be a joint effort. We hope to draw on our collective wisdom to bring better quality, build an effective quality management system, and ultimately deliver excellent product and service quality.
