In 2012, Huawei attended the INFOFORUM in Moscow, Russia as the primary sponsor for the first time. At the forum, attendees from Huawei shared their opinions about information security issues with stakeholders. INFOFORUM is the highest level and the most important information-technology and information-security forum. It was supported by several government agencies, including the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for Security, the Russian Federation Government, the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, and others. The forum brought together personnel from different industry associations, academic institutions, and carriers. Under the theme of "Confidence and Security in the Information Society", Huawei's Global Cyber Security Officer John Suffolk delivered a speech at the plenary session of the forum and organized four expert speeches in panel discussions. The Organizing Committee of the forum and stakeholders spoke highly of Huawei's participation.

In September, Huawei attended the INFOFORUM International conference in Hong Kong as the primary sponsor for the second time. At the same time, Huawei invited some participants to Shenzhen to visit headquarters. Mikhail Konarovskiy, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization gave credit to Huawei, saying that "60 years ago, Chinese companies learned from their Soviet counterparts, but today, Russian companies should learn from Huawei." Alexey Moshkov, the Head of the Russia's Bureau for Special Technical Measures and the Moderator of the INFOFORUM, expressed his willingness to continuously work with Huawei, "What we saw at Huawei today was beyond our imagination. Huawei is an incredibly successful enterprise. I hope to see its greater success in Russia. I should also thank Huawei for its support to the INFOFORUM, we look forward to continued cooperation with Huawei."
