[Brussels, Belgium, 10 June 2014] Huawei today announced that it has become an associate member of ETIS. ETIS is a membership based organization which brings together the major telecommunications providers in Europe to share knowledge on key information and communication technology issues in a trusted environment.
As an associate member, Huawei will be able to share its expertise and collect valuable feedback from Telcos in a non-competitive environment with a focus on real-world experiences.
ETIS operates a number of working groups focusing on key issues as decided by the members, and Information Security has been one of the most active areas for ETIS in recent years with three of its 10 Working groups dedicated to Security issues. Fred Werner, Communications & Programme Director for ETIS, had the following to say about Huawei’s new Associate Membership: “After participating as a guest in our Cyber Security Workshop earlier this year, ETIS was impressed with Huawei’s openness and willingness to discuss Cyber Security threats and work together to find new ways to combat these threats. ETIS looks forward to welcoming our newest Associate member and the added value they will bring to the security area.”
ETIS also hosts an annual Community Gathering which this year will be hosted on 16-17 October in Budapest. The event brings together all of the working groups to discuss the IT implications of latest industry trends, such as Next Generation Networks, M2M, Social Media, Cloud & Big Data.
Founded in 1991, ETIS currently has over 30 members, 13 Associate members and partners with key European ICT organisations including ETNO, ENISA, ETSI, TMF and QuEST Forum. Further information is available at www.etis.org and you can also connect with us on Twitter.
